About the Author

Growing up on a farm in rural southwestern North Dakota, I became an elementary teacher and married a farmer.

As farmers we raised Polled Hereford cattle, wheat, durum, oats and buckwheat. Our nine children worked in the home and on the farm then went on to lead productive lives.

I was a 4-H leader for 20 years and all of our children completed 10 years of 4-H work plus their school activities that earned them numerous awards and trips.I taught “Agriculture in the Classroom” classes in various schools for 23 years. My husband was a state legislator so all learned about the workings of government. Both of us were also involved with other local, state and national organizations that increased our knowledges and experiences.

We enjoy our peaceful rural life and wide open spaces with no traffic jams, pollution, hurricanes, or earthquakes.
